For the City Manager of Broken Bow to be concerned about the small amount of revenue Broken Bow would not receive if a sales tax hoilday existed seems to me to miss the point. The real problem is that shoppers are leaving, not just Broken Bow, but all of Southeast Oklahoma to shop in Texas. Merchants in counties that border Texas see a drop their sales whenever Texas has a sales tax holiday.
It seems to me that if the ENTIRE state of Texas can absorb this loss for one weekend, Broken Bow should be able to handle the loss of one weekend's sales tax without it being too much of a burden. Moderated By: bruce@mccurtain.com
