Gov. Henry Signs Bill Ending ÒDrown NightsÓ
May 16, 2005

Oklahoma City Ð Gov. Brad Henry today signed legislation aimed at
cracking down on under-aged drinking. Senate Bill 518 ends so-called
Òdrown nights,Ó promotional events in which bars sell low-point beer at
a flat rate for unlimited drinks. Exceptions are made for private
functions.

ÒThis measure will help stamp out a practice that can lead to binge
drinking by under-aged drinkers,Ó Gov. Henry said. ÒThe problem of
binge drinking by minors poses serious health and public safety
problems. This act is a common-sense step to curb such abuse.Ó
